# Ask for testimonials inside your product

To ask users for a testimonial while they are using your product, create an in-app prompt under **Requests**, **Settings**, **In-app prompt**, then paste its snippet into your app. Happy users are invited to leave a testimonial, and low ratings come to you privately instead of going public.

## Create the prompt

1. Click **Requests** in the top menu.
2. Open the **Settings** tab, then **In-app prompt**.
3. Create the prompt under **Collect testimonials inside your product**.

## Choose how it looks and behaves

- **Format**: **Modal** (default), **Card**, **Banner** or **Inline**.
- **Position**: **Center**, **Bottom right**, **Bottom left** or **Top**, for floating formats.
- **Prompt text**, for example "Enjoying it so far? We'd love a quick testimonial."
- **Thank-you text**.
- Whether to accept text, video or both.
- **Private feedback message**: shown to people who give a low rating.
- **Star threshold**: **3 stars and up**, **4 stars and up** (default) or **5 stars only**. Only ratings at or above this are invited to leave a public testimonial.
- **Cooldown (days)**: how long before the same person can be asked again (default 30).
- Auto-trigger with an **Auto delay (seconds)** (default 20).

## Install it

1. Copy the snippet.
2. Paste it just before the closing `</body>` tag of your app.
3. Optional: tell us who the user is with `window.testimonials.identify({ name, email, avatarUrl })`, and show the prompt at a good moment with `window.testimonials.trigger("your-event")`.

Each person is asked at most once per cooldown, and this cooldown is shared with your email requests, so nobody gets asked twice.

## See how it performs

The **Performance** card shows how many people saw the prompt, rated, and submitted over the last 7 days, 30 days and all time.
